Tarte Tatin is a world-famous French tart named after the Taten sisters, who invented this recipe over a hundred years ago. At that time, the Taten sisters had no idea that the tart would become so popular. A tarte tatin is a pie made upside down, with the filling placed on the bottom of the mold first and then the dough. A classic taten is a pie with apples that are toasted in sugar first. This pie is so beloved all over the world that over time a great variety of recipes with different fillings appeared. We suggest you to make Taten tart with banana in caramel, as a dough we will take ready-made puff pastry. A layer of delicious dough is crowned by delicate slices of baked banana, covered with sweet melting caramel. It will be very difficult to stop yourself after the first bite.
Ingredients (8 servings)
- Puff pastry 1 pc
- Butter 50 г
- Sugar 40 г
- Bananas 2 pcs.
Cut bananas into about 0.5 centimeter-thick slices. It is better to take not over-ripe bananas, without blemishes, to make the pie. If the bananas are overripe, they may start to fall apart when caramelized.
Melt the butter in a frying pan, add the sugar and wait for it to dissolve. The sugar does not need to be mixed with the butter, just spread it evenly on the bottom of the pan.
Spread the bananas in a pan and caramelize them for 2 to 3 minutes. Wait for the bananas to cool slightly.
Take the puff pastry out of the freezer beforehand. Roll out the dough a little. Cut out the dough to a slightly larger size than the mold.
Cover the form with baking paper, carefully put the banana slices on the bottom and pour the remaining caramel on top. Be very careful when placing the bananas, because they will be on top of the pie.
Place the dough on the bananas and press a little around the edges. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and bake the cake in it for about 40 minutes.
Let the cake cool slightly and take it out of the mold. Bon appetit!
