Savory Spaghetti Bread Bowls offer a delicious twist on traditional spaghetti by serving it in a hollowed-out kaiser roll brushed with garlic butter. These individual portions are filled with spaghetti, meat sauce, and melted mozzarella cheese, creating a comforting and satisfying meal.
Savory Spaghetti Bread Bowls Ingredients
This recipe comprises three main components: the bread bowls, spaghetti, and homemade garlic butter.
- Bread Bowls: Kaiser rolls, preferably 5-6 inches in diameter, are ideal for individual servings. Alternatively, sourdough bread or pre-made bread bowls can be used.
- Spaghetti: A quarter (4 ounces) of a standard 16-ounce box of spaghetti noodles is needed, yielding about 2 heaping cups of cooked noodles.
- Sauce: Choose your preferred jar of spaghetti sauce, and consider adding ground beef for extra flavor. Alternatively, you can use a homemade meat sauce.
- Garlic Butter: The garlic butter recipe used here is the same as the one used for Cheesy Garlic Bread, ensuring a rich and flavorful addition to the bread bowls.
Preparing the Bread Bowls
When cutting the bread bowls, use a serrated knife to make two lengthwise cuts on the top of each roll, creating four wedges. Cut at an angle to create a V shape, ensuring not to cut all the way through. Remove additional bread if desired, leaving the base intact. Place the hollowed-out bread bowls on a parchment-lined sheet pan.
How to Make Spaghetti in Bread Bowls
- Once the noodles are cooked and the bread is hollowed out, brown the ground beef in a skillet and add the spaghetti sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes, then add the cooked noodles and toss to coat.
- Prepare the garlic butter by combining melted butter, garlic, salt, and parsley. Brush the garlic butter inside and outside each bread bowl. Add shredded cheese to each bowl, followed by the spaghetti mixture, and top with more cheese.
- Bake the bread bowls for 7-10 minutes at 350°F (175°C) until golden brown and the cheese has melted. Garnish with parsley before serving.
