  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20)
  • 2 teaspoons garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon cracked black pepper
  • 1 pint grape or cherry tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 8 slices fresh mozzarella
  • 5 tablespoons garlic butter
  • 4 hamburger buns


Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions, shaping them into patties. Create a small well in the middle of each patty to ensure even cooking and prevent swelling during grilling. Season both sides of the patties with garlic salt and cracked black pepper.

Preheat your grill to high heat (around 450-500 degrees F).

Slice each bun in half and spread the inside of each half with approximately 1/2 tablespoon of garlic butter.

Rinse the tomatoes and place them in a grilling basket for vegetables. Toss the tomatoes with the remaining tablespoon of garlic butter.

Place the burger patties directly on the grill grates and cook for 3-4 minutes. Flip the patties and add the tomatoes in the grilling basket to the grill grates. Stir the tomatoes frequently and monitor the temperature of the burgers.

When the burgers are about 10 degrees away from reaching your desired internal temperature (e.g., 155 degrees F as recommended by the FDA), top each patty with a slice of mozzarella and add the buns to the grill grates to toast.

Remove the burgers from the grill when they reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees F and the cheese has melted. Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on the bottom bun, followed by a portion of the roasted tomatoes, a few fresh basil leaves, and the top bun.
