We’ve taken our beloved snacks and created a simple, enjoyable, and delicious treat to savor while cozying up together for a movie at home. Let’s take a moment to discover just how effortless it is to recreate this timeless favorite, a snack that has brought me joy since my childhood days.
To start off this easy popcorn balls recipe, melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the marshmallows and stir continuously until they are fully melted. Be sure to achieve a smooth and runny consistency by allowing the marshmallow mixture to meld together properly. Patience is key!
Once you remove the saucepan from the heat, it’s time to add the salt and vanilla extract, infusing the mixture with delightful flavors that will elevate your popcorn balls.
Next, pour the marshmallow mixture over the popcorn, ensuring even coating. And here comes the fun part—add the vibrant and irresistible M&M’S® Chocolate Candies, bringing color and bursts of chocolaty goodness to every bite.
To successfully shape the popcorn balls, generously coat your hands with butter or coconut oil. This step is crucial! Personally, I found using cooking spray to be convenient. Remember, you want to mold the popcorn mixture into 3″ balls. Place them on a sheet of wax or parchment paper and allow them to cool completely for approximately 30 minutes. We even placed ours in cupcake holders, and it worked like a charm!
