Introduction to Apple Pie Treats

Apple Pie Treats offer a quick and delightful alternative to traditional apple pie, capturing all the classic flavors with much less effort. Using ready-made biscuit dough to encase the apple pie filling, these treats are cooked in an air fryer and enhanced with a buttery apple pie spice and sugar coating for additional flavor.

Ingredients & Alternatives

Apple Pie Spice: This spice blend is essential for the coating, enhancing the apple flavor. If unavailable, a simple mix of cinnamon and sugar can substitute well.

Biscuits: For convenience, store-bought biscuit dough is recommended for its ability to achieve a nice golden brown finish in the air fryer. Alternatively, pie crust or puff pastry can also be used.

Apple Pie Filling: Enhance store-bought apple pie filling by adding a teaspoon of cinnamon and chopping the apples into smaller pieces for more even distribution and flavor. If using homemade filling, you might skip the extra cinnamon.

Oven Baking Option

No air fryer? No problem! Prepare the treats as usual but bake them in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) on a parchment-lined baking sheet for 15-17 minutes or until thoroughly baked. After baking, proceed with the butter dipping and spice coating.

Freezing Instructions

To freeze, allow the cooked apple pie treats to cool to room temperature, then arrange them on a baking sheet to freeze individually. Once solid, transfer to a freezer-safe container and store for up to 3 months. Remember to label and date the container.
