Ingredients & Substitutions

Bread:

Brioche bread brings a rich, buttery flavor and soft texture to this dessert. However, you can substitute it with your favorite type of bread or whatever you have on hand.

Graham Crackers:

For that classic s’mores flavor, you’ll need crushed graham crackers. If you have store-bought graham cracker crumbs, use about 1/8 cup (15g).

Marshmallows:

Mini marshmallows work best for even melting. If you prefer regular-sized marshmallows, simply cut them into smaller pieces, or use homemade marshmallows for an extra special touch.

Chocolate Chips:

Milk chocolate chips melt beautifully, but feel free to swap them for dark or semi-sweet chocolate if you prefer a more intense chocolate flavor.

How to Store

This sandwich is best enjoyed immediately while the marshmallow and chocolate are still gooey. However, if you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat on the stovetop or in the microwave to enjoy that gooey goodness again.

Gooey Fried S’mores Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 slices brioche bread
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
  • 1 graham cracker sheet, finely crushed (about ⅛ cup / 15g)
  • ½ cup mini marshmallows (25g)
  • ¼ cup milk chocolate chips (42g)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bread: Spread 1 tablespoon of butter on one side of a slice of brioche bread.
  2. Coat with Graham Cracker Crumbs: Place the crushed graham cracker on a deep plate. Dip the buttered side of the bread into the graham cracker crumbs, pressing lightly to ensure an even coating.
  3. Assemble the Sandwich: Heat a pan over medium-low heat. Place the prepared bread slice into the pan, graham cracker-coated side down. Top with mini marshmallows and chocolate chips.
  4. Top with Second Slice: Butter one side of the second slice of bread and dip it into the remaining graham cracker crumbs. Place this slice on top of the marshmallows and chocolate, butter side up.
  5. Cook the Sandwich: Cook over medium-low heat for 3-4 minutes, until the bottom is golden brown. Carefully flip the sandwich and cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until the second side is golden and the chocolate and marshmallows are melted.
  6. Serve: Remove from heat and serve warm. Enjoy your gooey s’mores sandwich!
