After seeing this breakfast sandwich become popular on TikTok, I had to try it myself. It’s easy to make and incredibly delicious, requiring just a skillet and a spatula. This sandwich starts with bread, butter, eggs, cheddar cheese, and ham. Mastering the flip of the eggs and bread is surprisingly rewarding.

  • Eggs: Three large eggs are used for one sandwich.
  • Salt and Pepper: I used white pepper to avoid dark specks in the eggs, but black pepper works just as well.
  • Butter: You’ll need three tablespoons of butter; two for the skillet and one for buttering the bread.
  • Toppings: Cheddar cheese and deli ham are added to the sandwich. Feel free to add bacon or sausage if you prefer.

How to Make an Egg and Ham Breakfast Sandwich

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: In a bowl, combine the eggs, salt, and pepper. Melt two tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Use the remaining tablespoon to butter one side of each bread slice and set aside.
  2. Cook the Eggs and Bread: Once the butter has melted, pour the eggs into the skillet and swirl to spread them out. Place the bread slices, unbuttered side down, on top of the eggs, touching end to end. Let the eggs cook for 5-7 minutes, until no longer runny.
  3. Flip and Assemble: Carefully flip the eggs and bread using a spatula. Add a slice of cheese to one piece of bread and top with ham. Fold any excess egg over the ham and flip the other bread slice on top. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted. Enjoy warm!

Variation of the Recipe–More French-Toast Like Method

For a French-toast-like texture, dip the bread slices in the beaten eggs instead of buttering them. Use only two tablespoons of butter for the skillet. Pour the eggs into the skillet and place the bread on top, letting it soak slightly. Flip the bread slices into the eggs and follow the rest of the instructions as written. Either method will give you a delicious start to your day!

  • 2 slices bread
  • 1 slice cheddar cheese
  • 2 slices deli ham

  1. In a medium bowl, combine eggs, salt, and pepper.
  2. In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
  3. Use the remaining tablespoon of butter to butter one side of each bread slice. Set aside.
  4. Once the butter has melted in the skillet, add the eggs. Swirl the pan to spread the eggs to the edges.
  5. Place both slices of bread, butter side up and touching edge to edge, on top of the eggs.
  6. Cook undisturbed until the eggs are no longer runny, about 5-7 minutes.
  7. Flip the eggs with the bread slices. Top one slice of bread with cheese and ham. Fold the excess egg over the ham.
  8. Fold the other slice of bread over to make the sandwich.
  9. Flip and cook for 2-3 more minutes, until the cheese is melted and the sandwich is browned. Serve warm.
