Hearty Morning Pull-Apart Bread revolutionizes the traditional sweet monkey bread into a delicious savory breakfast dish by incorporating eggs, bacon, and cheese. This delectable pull-apart delight is crowned with a savory garlic butter topping.
I’m thrilled by how simple and delightful it is to enjoy this bread—just pull off a piece as large or small as you desire. Stuffing it with eggs, bacon, and cheese elevates it from a mere snack to a hearty breakfast. It’s a wonderful mix of carbohydrates and protein to kickstart your day. And the garlic butter—don’t skip it!
Ingredients
- Biscuits: Grab a can of homestyle biscuits for convenience. Alternatively, use homemade dough. Here’s my recipe, just skip the cinnamon.
- Eggs: Whip up six scrambled eggs to mix into the bread.
- Bacon: Prepare the bacon beforehand by baking it. Place strips on a foil-lined baking sheet and bake for 18-20 minutes at 415°F (213°C).
- Cheese: Mild cheddar cheese is my choice to avoid overpowering the other flavors, but feel free to use any cheese you prefer!
- Garlic Butter: Brushing the warm bread with melted garlic butter infuses it with delightful flavor.
Variations to Hearty Morning Pull-Apart Bread
Personalize this bread to suit your taste. Experiment with different meats such as sausage or cubed ham, or opt for a vegetarian version with onions or bell peppers. For an extra zing, sprinkle in some red pepper flakes.
Preparation Tips
- Advance Preparation: Assemble everything in the pan the night before, cover it with plastic wrap, and refrigerate. It’ll be ready to bake the following morning.
- Using Different Pans: While traditionally baked in a bundt pan, other pans like a pie or square baking dish can also be used. Just remember to adjust cooking times accordingly and check for doneness.
Storing Suggestions
Keep the baked bread in an airtight container in the fridge for 1-2 days. Reheat in the microwave when ready to serve.
