Ingredients for Enchanted Mermaid Cocktail
- Vodka: Use your favorite brand of vodka for this drink.
- Blue Curacao: A blue liqueur with a citrus flavor, similar to triple sec. If Blue Curacao isn’t available at your local liquor store, you can substitute with triple sec or Grand Marnier.
- Simple Syrup: Commonly used in cakes, cupcakes, and cocktails, simple syrup is easy to make at home if you don’t have any on hand.
- Hard Seltzer: With many brands of spiked sparkling water available, choose your preferred flavor. I used watermelon-flavored White Claw, but lime or other flavors would work well too.
What is Blue Curacao?
Blue Curacao is a blue liqueur made from the dried peels of the Lahara citrus fruit, grown on the island of Curacao. The blue color comes from added food coloring, and the liqueur has a citrus flavor similar to triple sec. It’s used in various blue cocktails, including the Enchanted Mermaid, Blue Lagoon, and Blue Hawaiian.
No Shaker? No Problem!
If you don’t have a cocktail shaker, use a to-go coffee mug with a solid lid. Fill the mug with ice, add all the ingredients, cover the mouth opening, and shake well. To pour, open the mouth opening slightly to strain out the ice, leaving you with a chilled beverage.
Ingredients
- 2 ounces (60 ml) vodka
- 2 ounces (60 ml) Blue Curacao
- 1 ounce (30 ml) simple syrup
- 1 ounce (30 ml) lime juice
- 1 can (12 ounces / 355 ml) watermelon-flavored spiked sparkling water, like White Claw*
- Lemon or lime, for garnish
Instructions
Mix the Cocktail:
In a tall cocktail shaker filled with ice, add vodka, Blue Curacao, simple syrup, and lime juice. Shake until well mixed.
Prepare the Glass:
Fill a tall wine glass with crushed ice and pour in the mermaid mixture.
Top and Garnish:
Top off with spiked sparkling water.
Garnish with a slice of lemon or lime.
