  • 1 Honeycrisp apple, cut into 1/2-inch (1.25 cm) pieces
  • 1 cup (200 g) brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon (8 g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons (5 g) cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons (7 ml) vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon (0.5 g) salt
  • 2 tablespoons (28 g) unsalted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) milk

Glaze:

  • 1 cup (120 g) powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Slice each puff pastry sheet into six equal pieces.
  3. Arrange six pastry pieces on the prepared baking sheet, setting the other six aside.
  4. In a bowl, mix the apple pieces with brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt.
  5. Melt butter in a large pan over medium-high heat.
  6. Add the apple mixture and sauté for about 6 minutes until tender.
  7. Spoon 1-2 tablespoons of the apple filling onto the center of each pastry piece on the baking sheet.
  8. Whisk the egg and milk together to create an egg wash.
  9. Use a brush to apply the egg wash around the edges of the pastry pieces with filling.
  10. Place the remaining six pastry pieces on top of the filled ones. Press the edges together with your fingers, then seal them using a fork.
  11. Brush the tops with egg wash and bake for 18-20 minutes, until golden brown.
  12. While the pastries cool slightly, prepare the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract.
  13. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled pastries and enjoy!
